While its customer base was growing rapidly, especially in financially underserved communities, the technology backbone supporting this expansion lagged.
Regulatory deadlines loomed large. Admin tools were rudimentary. Digital products struggled to convert. What the bank needed was not a piecemeal technology upgrade; it needed a systemic transformation.

The mandate was clear but multifaceted: build for compliance with evolving RBI mandates, re-architect backend systems for operational agility, and design customer journeys that could convert at scale.

High-Volume, RBI-Aligned Data Infrastructure
The RBI’s mandate to publish details of unclaimed deposits pushed many banks into reactive mode.
This institution initially handled 6,000 records manually through a Drupal module, a volume it could accommodate. But as record counts soared to over 600,000, the platform began to choke. Page loads stalled, server capacity strained, and regulatory risk escalated.
Xerago responded with a shift from front-end uploads to direct-to-database ingestion using Drupal 10 as the foundation platform. Instead of relying on the limitations of Drupal’s file module, we built a performance-first ingestion system designed for scale.
A custom database table schema was introduced to optimize data indexing and retrieval, enabling high-speed batch uploads. Within 10 seconds, 600,000 records could be parsed, validated, and inserted without impacting the live environment.
To prevent outages, we deployed batch processing and intelligent load balancing across the environment.
Real-time validations were automated, and every upload was tracked through audit logs, ensuring full traceability during internal or RBI inspections. What emerged was not just a complaint portal, but a scalable system capable of handling future mandates, data growth, and internal reporting.
Admin Portal Re-engineered for Security and Speed
Internally, the bank’s admin capabilities were under strain. Teams managing Digital Fixed Deposit (DFD), Digital Savings Account (DSA), Digital Current Account (DCA) and Customer Referral Module had no centralized dashboard to manage referrals, deposits, or service requests. Visibility into customer data was limited. Filtering options were rudimentary. Manual workarounds were common, increasing turnaround time and error rates. The admin interface, designed for a simpler time, was now a bottleneck.
Xerago rebuilt the admin portal from scratch using ReactJS for the front-end and NodeJS for backend operations. To handle growing loads without compromising security, we implemented a master-slave database configuration: queries were handled by a “slave” replica to avoid overloading the “master” source of truth.
Security was embedded throughout. We introduced role-based access control (RBAC) so that different teams, Product, IT, and Marketing, could only view data relevant to their functions. Sensitive operations, such as data edits or refunds, were governed by a maker-checker protocol that enforced dual-level verification.
We also added real-time dashboards with data filters, logs, and usage reports, enabling quicker responses to customer queries and operational requests. Phishing risk was reduced through automated flagging and updating of suspicious email IDs. As manual bottlenecks fell away, the admin console transformed into a secure, high-throughput operations center that could scale with the bank’s ambitions.
Digital Banking Suite Built for Instant Fulfillment
Legacy onboarding journeys were too slow for today’s digital-first customers. Opening a Fixed, Savings, or Current Account requires 20–30 minutes, involving multiple steps, ID verification, branch approval, and internal coordination. In a landscape filled with nimble fintech challengers, this approach simply didn’t cut it.
Xerago designed and deployed end-to-end digital journeys for all major account types, built on a foundation of API orchestration and straight-through processing (STP). From eKYC (via UIDAI and NSDL) to live video verification (WorkApps with 1-hour average TAT), fraud checks (RE Check API), and credit validation (Equifax API), the journey was fully integrated and real-time.
Customers could now open accounts instantly and route initial deposits through CCAvenue, which was securely integrated into the journey. All new accounts were synced to the home-grown CRM and then to core banking (Finacle) systems in real-time, ensuring that fulfillment didn't break the customer experience.
We built workflows and managed the deposit flow, crediting amounts into bank accounts until Video KYC completion, then reinitiating money transfer to customers' accounts upon verification.

AES 256 encryption, vigorous VAPT testing, high code quality standards, content security policy, and asymmetric encryption ensured end-to-end protection. What once took 30 minutes was now completed in under 3 with zero paperwork, zero branch visits, and zero compromise on compliance or security.
